Jan Nichols-Franz

Allow me to introduce myself...

My career began in Chicago performing locally with jazz trios and then as a featured night club act that travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Asia. I toured with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars as a back-up pianist and vocalist, and later performed as featured vocalist with Brazilian organist Walter Wanderly. After returning to California I worked for many years as a solo pianist and vocalist in the Bay Area's finest hotels and currently perform with my husband, trumpeter Jim Franz, and our band (managed through Island City Entertainment) in the East Bay.

Over the last ten years my passion has shifted from live performance to musical instruction; I spent eight years teaching pre-school music in San Francisco at Belevedere Montessori before moving on to private instruction at Piedmont Piano and my home studio in Alameda. I love working with young children, teenagers, and young-at-heart adults and believe that sharing the joy of music is a path to enriching your life.
